The challenge when upgrading the drawers and drawer slides in an old original kitchen has to do with the skeleton construction of the original cabinetry. Today cabinets are made using plywood melamine and other sheetgood materials so the drawer slide hardware can easily be attached to the inside walls of cabinetry. With old cabinetry the inside of a kitchen cabinet is hollow and does not have solid sides to mount hardware to.
Over the past several years we have refined a process to add in her supports in old cabinetry which enables us to replace weak drawers for sturdy dovetailed drawers and install smooth soft close slides. The results is an original looking kitchen that functions like a brand-new kitchen.
This kitchen from a home built in the 1920s in Santa Monica is getting a facelift complete with new cabinet drawers and doors and drawer fronts. The new cabinet doors will also have the soft close feature. Several of the upper cabinet doors will be glass which will update the kitchen.
Other changes being made include converting an existing cabinet which has drawers and doors and making it the new home for a wine chiller. To give this client more storage we are fabricating two new wall cabinets with glass fronts which will match their existing cabinetry.
So instead of guiding and completely remodeling their kitchen this client Will be getting a remodeled kitchen without the hassles and extra expense.
